John Santerre

Dr. John Santerre received a PhD in machine learning from the computer science department of the University of Chicago. Previously a professional conflict and wedding photographer, he has printed for Ron Haviv and James Nachtwey; edited videos shown at the United Nations, SilverDocs and the National Geographic Film Festival; attended nine universities; and worked at multiple four- and five-star restaurants. He has consulted/worked/interned at organizations as diverse as Argonne National Laboratory, Data Science for Social Good, EcoLabs, Triggr Health, SAP and United Therapeutics. He has photographed former and current presidents, the red carpet at the Tony Awards, and marginalized populations across various continents.
Dr. Santerre’s research has appeared in places as diverse at Nature (Scientific Reports), NeurIPS, ICML and MIT Technology Review. His focus is building proof of concepts to get teams up and running utilizing machine learning.
