Charles South received a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Statistical Science from SMU in 2006, and a Masters of Applied Statistics from Cornell in 2007. After a 5-year stint teaching gifted and talented middle school math, he returned to SMU in 2012 to pursue a PhD in Statistics. Charles graduated in May of 2016 and joined the faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center where he analyzed clinical trial data, helped write grants, and managed several data projects. He began teaching as adjunct faculty for the MSDS program in 2017 and joined the Statistical Science department at SMU full-time in fall of 2018. Charles has published a number of peer-reviewed journal articles and have a strong interest in mental health statistics and sports statistics.
